WR. Alabama. 59. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Jaylen Waddle. 6. player

When Chris Grier went all Sonny Weaver Jr. on us, I think he was expecting Pitts or Chase to be here. Oh well. While it’s definitely possible that Pitts is the pick here, Atlanta’s tentative selection throws off those plans. Instead, I have Miami taking Jaylen Waddle and it makes sense.

This seems to be a growing selection among experts in the draft community. But why would I base my selection on what the big guns are spitting out? Well, I’ve been told the Dolphins are not only targeting playmakers (shocker) but they’d consider one of Pitts, Chase and Waddle — not DeVonta Smith.

If anyone is to throw us off with a pick, it may very well be Grier, so I’m not completely ruling out Smith here. I just think some teams are going to be low on him, hence a possible fall come Thursday night.

Of course, the Dolphins would be doing backflips if Pitts is on the board. The other, more realistic option here: Trade down. I think Miami would 100 percent consider moving down again because A. they can probably get Waddle later and B. Grier and Co. salivate over more draft picks. I could see Denver sending Miami a second-rounder to move up and snag Justin Fields (not Trey Lance).

On the other hand, that’s as far as I think the Dolphins would be willing to drop. And no, I’m not buying into Penei Sewell here. I’d like the pick, I just think Miami will prioritize playmakers.

Alternative picks: Kyle Pitts, Ja’Marr Chase, trade, DeVonta Smith
