Final 2021 NFL Mock Draft: Colts stay consistent on O-line at No. 21
21. Indianapolis Colts: Teven Jenkins, OT, Oklahoma State
The Indianapolis Colts are one of the most unique franchises in how they choose to operate. When most teams have a ton of money to burn in an offseason, that’s exactly what they do. The Colts aren’t in that mold, though. They are reliant on their process and development to both keep their own guys and draft or trade to plug holes.
We saw the trade aspect of that at quarterback when, after the Philip Rivers retirement announcement, they decided to trade for Carson Wentz in a low-risk, high-reward situation for them. But what they failed to do was fill the hole left by another retirement, that of left tackle Anthony Castonzo.
That’s where the drafting part of the process comes into play and, when you look at the players available to them, taking Teven Jenkins just seems to be a fit. The Colts have loved players in the trenches who play with a mean streak and great physicality, which is Jenkins’ game.
This is a natural fit at an obvious need for Indianapolis. It’s at the point now that I would be shocked if Jenkins wasn’t their guy in the first round, even if they end up trading down, as they have often before.
Who I Would Pick: Teven Jenkins
