Final 2021 NFL Mock Draft: Browns shoot for the moon with No. 26

26. Cleveland Browns: Jayson Oweh, EDGE, Penn State

In the immediate wake of the early free agency period, the Cleveland Browns were huge winners and rightfully so. Signing safety John Johnson III and cornerback Troy Hill (and defensive tackle Malik Jackson) addressed huge needs. And the one big need left to fill was on the edge opposite of superstar Myles Garrett.

Then came the Jadeveon Clowney signing, which changes things up a bit. Though it’s only on a one-year deal, the veteran immediately plugs that hole with a great player who is also a terrific fit. But again, it’s only a one-year deal. Because of that, I think Clowney simply opens the door for the Browns to make a move on a player like Jayson Oweh.

The Penn State pass-rusher is a ball of clay, if balls of clay were athletes that you would be more likely to see in a Marvel film than on the football field. He’s an absolute freak and, despite his lack of production in terms of sacks, he does generate pressure because of that. Oweh just needs time to develop his moves and plan.

Bringing him in behind Clowney in year one is perfect for him. He’ll have the opportunity to get coached up by a good staff and start to scratch his potential. The Browns, shocking as it is, are in a luxury pick position and Oweh is the crown jewel of that.

Who I Would Pick: Jayson Oweh
