Denver Broncos still trade up for QB in final 7-round mock draft
By Lucas Schuh
Once the Broncos get their quarterback, they don’t have any major weaknesses. Denver fixed the issue under center, added cornerbacks, and brought back Justin Simmons and Kareem Jackson. With their 40th pick, it might come down to which player available is the highest on Denver’s board.
When looking at the linebacker position, you have Micah Parsons who leads the group. But one player who could be just as good is Jamin Davis. At his pro day, Davis showed off his ridiculous athleticism. Davis came in at 6-3, 234 pounds and put up ridiculous testing numbers as ran a 4.37-second 40-yard dash, had a 42-inch vertical, and an 11-foot broad jump.
Davis isn’t just a pure athlete though as he knows how to translate his athleticism to the field. He is a great blitzer and great at shooting gaps. He is also great at attacking blocks as he has good balance and knows how to attack blocks from different angles.
He does have his weaknesses. While Davis is a great athlete, he doesn’t have much experience in coverage as he played very few man coverage snaps and was often slow to react when he dropped back in zone coverage.
Davis is not the perfect linebacking prospect. He will need some seasoning and will likely look lost in coverage during his rookie season, but he will show flashes of greatness and, as the years go on, he will look more and more like a quality linebacker.
Other Players Considered: Elijah Molden, Richie Grant, Jabril Cox
