The Jacksonville Jaguars seemed to have found their new franchise quarterback in Trevor Lawrence. Grading the Pick.

Don’t fool yourself; the moment Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence destroyed Alabama as a freshman, he was hailed as the future No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. But to think of all teams, the Jacksonville Jaguars would be the one to land him?

That seemed unlikely. In fact, it was believed that the Jets would end up with him. Several individuals, including NFL Network’s Rich Eisen, had Lawrence ultimately wearing green instead of teal. That is until New York won at the wrong time.

But enough about the Jets; this is about the Jaguars finally finding what they believe to be their next franchise quarterback. We all know what grade the Jaguars get. But in case you need a reminder, check it below.

Not only have the Jaguars brought life back into their organizations by making the teal jerseys their primary choice, but they have a new face of the franchise that will hopefully return them to their glory days when they first entered the league.

Head coach Urban Meyer took the job because he knew that he had a quarterback of Lawrence’s caliber on the way. Plus, you can’t ask for better credentials for a college career. Lawrence has been in the national championship two times, and three times, he has made the college football playoff. And did we mention he beat Alabama and Nick Saban quite effortlessly?

Lawrence has had several comparisons placed upon his shoulders, including that of Andrew Luck. However, without the proper protection, Luck left the game. Lawrence knows that he isn’t going to have all the great tools he had in college at his disposal in the NFL, but he has won before with different players, and the NFL is the ultimate proving ground.
