NFL Draft: Redrafting the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft: 1. Dak Prescott

Originally selected 135th overall (+134)

Dak Prescott seems like the obvious pick here for the Los Angeles Rams. In a relative off-year for the NFL Draft in terms of quarterback talent, Prescott found his way to the top of the list despite being taken late in the fourth round by the Dallas Cowboys originally.

The Rams, on the other hand, selected Jared Goff in 2016, who was recently traded to the Detroit Lions and will fit as a downgrade from their beloved Matthew Stafford. Goff did make two Pro Bowls in 2017 and 2018, but it seems like his time in the spotlight is behind him.

That said, Prescott serves as a long-term, more stable option for the Rams with the first overall pick. He may not have the ceiling that they were looking for, but this Rams team could use a player to hold down a franchise that hasn’t been able to find consistency as of late.

Los Angeles may have been able to hold out another year to get a more explosive option, but I’m sure they’d jump on the opportunity to pick up Prescott in this scenario. Their actual pick isn’t even on the team anymore, while Prescott has a 6-year, $240 million contract with the Cowboys.
