NFL Draft: Redrafting the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft 19. Matthew Judon

Originally selected 146th overall (+127)

In the original 2016 NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills selected a defensive end in Shaq Lawson. In hindsight, it was a decent pick and he ended up being a solid defensive lineman in this league.

Unfortunately, five years have passed and Lawson is on his third NFL team, only one of which was the Buffalo Bills. The organization can’t be upset with this pick, but they’ll look to find another player who will fit in on a long-term basis.

Thankfully, there are a couple of players who went in later rounds of the 2016 NFL Draft who fit this role perfectly. One of them is Matthew Judon.
The defensive end didn’t receive a ton of exposure in college, as he attended Grand Valley State. As a result, he slipped all the way to the fifth round, landing on the Baltimore Ravens. He wouldn’t do much for his first few years in the league but has really come on as a player the past couple of seasons.

Judon made back-to-back Pro Bowls, solidifying himself as the real deal at the NFL level. The Ravens weren’t able to secure him to a long-term contract, but maybe the Bills would have been able to.
