NFL Draft: Redrafting the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft 20. Joe Schobert

Originally selected 99th overall (+79)

The New York Jets made a bad pick in the 2016 NFL Draft? Color me shocked. That’s a joke, as this is about on par with what we’ve come to expect from this franchise.

The Jets originally picked Darron Lee with their 20th overall pick. And in their defense, he was a solid contributor on their defense, even if their defense was awful. That said, five years have passed and he finds himself as a free agent who has hardly played in the past couple of seasons.

This time around, the Jets will take inside linebacker Joe Schobert, a player who may not have the flashiest career but has made a name for himself after being originally selected in the 4th round of the 2016 NFL Draft.

Schobert has been one of the bigger surprises from the 2016 NFL Draft out of Wisconsin, as a very solid NFL inside linebacker. After a few good seasons with the Browns, one of which saw him become a Pro Bowler in a year where he was the league’s leader in tackles with 144, Schobert is now on the Jacksonville Jaguars, continuing to put up strong numbers.

Inside linebacker was a big need for the Jets in this draft, so Schobert would fit in perfectly to a unit that desperately needed him.
