NFL Draft: Redrafting the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft 25. Kendall Fuller

Originally selected 84th overall (+59)

The Pittsburgh Steelers originally selected Artie Burns with the 25th pick in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft. Burns was a pretty solid player for the Steelers but never became what they would have liked him to.

After a few solid years with the team, his fifth-year option would be declined and he would sign with Chicago, where he would almost immediately tear his ACL. The Steelers will be looking for a different outcome in this redraft, but they’ll pick the same position.

At the 25th spot, the Steelers’ pick will be Kendall Fuller, a cornerback out of Virginia Tech.

Nobody will claim that Kendall Fuller is an elite cornerback, but he has done extremely well for himself after being taken in the third round by the Washington Football team. Fuller had a quiet first year in the league but would step up as a force to be reckoned with defensively after a season that saw him record four interceptions.

He could make a huge difference in a Pittsburgh secondary that has always had its fair share of issues. He’s coming off of arguably his best season in 2020, where he also recorded four interceptions and a handful of pass deflections.

The Steelers would be getting an upgrade with this one.
