NFL Draft: Redrafting the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft 30. Jordan Howard

Originally selected 150th overall (+120)

With the 30th pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, the Carolina Panthers were looking for a defensive tackle and they found one in Vernon Butler. He was a risky pick, as he attended a small school in Louisiana Tech. He would be their highest draft pick since 1999.

Things wouldn’t really work out for him in the NFL, as he never turned into the player that the Panthers were hoping to get. That said, there were a few other selections that could have turned out better for Carolina.

One of those selections is Jordan Howard, who was one of the better running backs in the NFL for a few years. He would eventually fade into obscurity in a league with way too many backs, but he could have made an instant impact on this Carolina Panthers team.

And unlike the Chicago Bears, they may have been more willing to keep him around for the long haul. That said, the Bears did get good value out of a player who was originally taken in the 5th round.

Howard would have fit like a glove on a Panthers team that was looking for a running back in this draft. If they could get a Pro Bowl-caliber player like Howard with the 30th pick, they would jump on that opportunity.
