NFL Draft: Redrafting the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft 4. Jalen Ramsey

Originally selected 5th overall (+1)

In 2016, the Dallas Cowboys took Ezekiel Elliot with their 4th overall pick. Nobody will complain about this selection, but looking back, what has Elliot done to help this team reach success? Harshly put, almost nothing.

Given another shot in this one, you’d have to assume that the Cowboys would look to bolster their defense at a more valuable position. That’s exactly why they’ll be moving to the defensive side of the ball in this redraft.

Jalen Ramsey would have been the best defensive player in this draft, but Bosa will steal that honor in the first round. That said, Ramsey has been elite during his short tenure in the league thus far.

Since being drafted, Ramsey has made four Pro Bowl appearances and had two First-Team All-Pro selections. He would have a great career with the Jacksonville Jaguars, the team that drafted him, but would eventually demand a trade. This would lead to him being moved to the LA Rams.

The Rams signed him to a 5-year, $105 million contract, as any smart franchise would. If the Cowboys had taken him, their defense would be a big step further than it currently is. And it hasn’t been great.
