NFL Draft: Redrafting the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft 6. Ronnie Stanley

Originally selected 6th overall (no movement)

The Baltimore Ravens took Ronnie Stanley with their 6th overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft and it has paid off immensely. Before a season-ending injury took him out of the 2020 NFL season, Stanely became the highest-paid offensive lineman in the league with a 5-year, $112 million contract.

His value would only be amplified when he sustained an injury, knocking him out for the entirety of the 2020 season. A beat-up offensive line would ultimately doom a Ravens team that would have been a Super Bowl contender otherwise.

There’s no reason to think that the Ravens should have done anything differently this time around. In a redraft situation, they would absolutely take Stanley again, looking to build the strong offensive line that is currently in Baltimore.

Before his injury, Stanley was just getting started, coming off of a First-Team All-Pro selection and a Pro Bowl appearance in the 2019 season. There will likely be plenty more years like this from the elite offensive lineman.
