3. Jaguars taking a running back (Travis Etienne)

Urban Meyer’s reign a the Jaguars head coach officially began by taking the best player in the 2021 NFL Draft with Trevor Lawrence. He’ll likely sit behind Gardner Minshew, recovering from his injury. It’s a good thing, given the holes the Jaguars have. One major issue resides along the offensive line. Last season, their quarterbacks got rocked thanks to their offensive line giving up 2.8 sacks per game.

They also needed some help on defense. Their secondary hasn’t been the same since trading away, Jaylen Ramsey. Last season they gave up an average of 264 passing yards per game. With the No. 25 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Meyer decided to address the running back position by reuniting college teammates.

This isn’t a knock on Travis Etienne. But, the Jaguars have a stud at running back James Robinson. Despite being the focal point of the offense, Robinson rushed for over 1,000 yards. He averaged 4.5 yards per carry and seven touchdowns. He showed he’s a reliable option out of the backfield with 49 catches and three touchdowns.

This wasn’t a bad pick, just a bit shocking. Guess the Jags will look to protect their franchise quarterback on Day 2.
