2021 NFL Draft: Day 2 mock draft after the first round
By Randy Gurzi
65. Jacksonville Jaguars: Ifeatu Melifonwu, CB, Syracuse
Syracuse defensive back Ifeatu Melifonwu could be a steal, especially this late.
66. Minnesota Vikings (via New York Jets): Daviyon Nixon, IDL, Iowa
They need more beef on the D-line and the Vikings get that in Daviyon Nixon.
67. Houston Texans: Carlos Basham, Jr., EDGE, Wake Forest
Carlos Basham should be able to replace Whitney Mercilus in a year or two.
68. Atlanta Falcons: James Hudson, OT, Cincinnati
Matt Ryan isn’t getting any younger, so the Falcons need their line to get better.
69. Cincinnati Bengals: Paulson Adebo, CB, Stanford
Cincy picks up Paulson Adebo who could have really climbed draft boards had he played in 2020 and shown he made progress. As it stands, he’s an unknown with great upside.
70. Philadelphia Eagles: Tommy Tremble, TE, Notre Dame
Zach Ertz might not be around much longer, so Tommy Tremble is there waiting in the wings. He’s also apparently great at rock, paper, scissors which is a huge plus.
71. Denver Broncos: Olaijah Griffin, CB, USC
They used to be the no-fly zone. Maybe one day they can get back to that.
72. Detroit Lions: Jordan Smith, EDGE, UAB
A bit of a sleeper, Jordan Smith could develop into something.
73. Carolina Panthers: Brevin Jordan, TE, Miami
Sam Darnold needs weapons to succeed. Hopefully, the Panthers get that because the Jets did not.
74. Washington Football Team (via San Francisco 49ers): Andre Cisco, S, Syracuse
If he can stay healthy, Andre Cisco could be a stellar safety.
75. Dallas Cowboys: Tommy Togiai, IDL, Ohio State
Trysten Hill has yet to prove he can get it done, so Dallas takes Tommy Togiai.
76. New York Giants: Chazz Surratt, LB, North Carolina
A former safety, Chazz Surratt could be a great addition in a pass-happy NFC East.
77. Los Angeles Chargers: Milton Williams, DT, Louisiana Tech
He needs time to develop but Milton Williams is a player to watch.
78. Minnesota Vikings: Richie Grant, S, UCF
They lost Anthony Harris, but Richie Grant could be a starter one day.
79. Las Vegas Raiders (via Arizona Cardinals): Nico Collins, WR, Michigan
A big-bidied receiver, Nico Collins’ only knock (according to the Raiders) is that he didn’t play at Alabama or Clemson.
80. Las Vegas Raiders: Jamar Johnson, S, Indiana
A fast-climbing safety prospect, Jamar Johnson from Indiana joins Vegas who has two picks in a row.
81. Miami Dolphins: Jackson Carman, OT, Clemson
Miami picks up Jackson Carman who might need to slide inside at the next level.
82. Washington Football Team: Quinn Meinerz, IOL, Wisconsin-Whitewater
A developmental prospect, Quinn Meinerz could become a long-term starter if his pro team is patient.
83. Chicago Bears: Josh Myers, IOL, Ohio State
Josh Myers is a good prospect inside, and the Bears need someone to protect Justin Fields. Myers has a history of doing just that.
84. Dallas Cowboys (via Philadelphia Eagles through Indianapolis Colts): Trill Williams, CB, Syracuse
Another Syracuse defensive back is picked here as the Cowboys use their selection from the Philly trade to land Trill Williams. He could end up being a contributor.
85. Tennessee Titans: Pete Werner, LB, Ohio State
Pete Werner is great in coverage and the Titans need a linebacker who can help slow down opposing tight ends.
86. Minnesota Vikings (via New York Jets through Seattle Seahawks): Robert Rochell, CB, Central Arkansas
A small-school kid with big upside, Robert Rochell lands with the Vikings at 86.
