Round 6, Pick 192: Tay Gowan, CB, UCF

Since the Cowboys were unable to get a cornerback early, they will still have some questions heading into 2021 — even after taking Tyson Campbell in this mock. They have some talented players but they don’t have any guaranteed stars.

For that reason, they use their first of two picks in the sixth looking for a diamond in the rough. That leads them to UCF’s Tay Gowan who started out at Miami of Ohio before moving to UCF. He has played just 13 career games but checks off a lot of boxes.

Clearly a developmental prospect, Gowan is worth the gamble this late.

Round 6, Pick 227: Chris Evans, RB, Michigan

Speaking of a late gamble, Dallas uses the No. 227 pick on Chris Evans from Michigan. He averaged 5.6 yards per carry in his career but was never a featured back. He also only got 16 carries in 2020.

Dallas brings him in as a player who can compete with Rico Dowdle for the No. 3 job but can also turn into more if the coaching staff can tap into his potential.

Round 7, Pick 238: Naquan Jones, NT, Michigan State

Antwaun Woods is a good nose tackle, even if he doesn’t get the credit he deserves. He will also be back for 2021 after signing a one-year deal recently.

The Cowboys add another nose tackle to back him up as they take Naquan Jones from Michigan State with their final pick.
