NFL Draft 2021: Miami Dolphins pick Jaelan Phillips, compares to Jason Taylor

For this one, it’s all about the motor. Hall of Fame defensive lineman Jason Taylor and newcomer Jaelan Phillips have a heart bigger than their enormous bodies.

During Taylor’s heyday, he seemingly never got tired. He was relentless in his pursuit of the quarterback and more times than not, he either got there or forced them to get rid of the ball much sooner than they were expecting. During his time in both Miami and UCLA, Phillips did much of the same. He was tireless in his pursuit of the ball.

In addition to that comparison, in the athletic department, both players are essentially the same, shedding blocks with ease and quick enough to bat the ball down or chase after the running back from behind. When it’s all said and done, Taylor was a six-time Pro Bowler and multiple-time All-Pro. The expectations for Phillips will be through the roof but considering his Hall of Fame abilities, we have a feeling he’ll live up to the hype.
