NFL Draft 2021: Indianapolis Colts pick Kwity Paye, compares to Michael Strahan

To find the true value in defensive end, Kwity Paye, the Indianapolis Colts went and did their homework.

At first glance, it didn’t appear like they made the right decision. After all, Paye registered only two sacks this past season in four games but, if you took a look at the season prior, you’ll notice the true value in him.

In 2019, Paye racked up 50 tackles, 12.5 for loss and 6.5 sacks. The speed and power he plays with are very reminiscent of a young Michael Strahan, the Hall of Fame defensive end that played for the New York Giants. Seldom did Paye ever see one on one assignments. Instead, he was forced to fight through double teams, at the next level, he’ll truly shine. Ultimately, it will be Paye’s ability to be effective even while dealing with constant double and triple teams that will place him on another level.

Now, of course, Strahan currently holds the NFL record for the most sacks in a season with 22.5. Now while we aren’t saying Paye is going to set the record in his rookie year, at some point, he’ll come within arms reach. He’s that good.
