NFL Draft 2021: Buffalo Bills pick Greg Rousseau, compares to Bruce Smith
There isn’t a single player on this list who won’t be dealing with an enormous amount of pressure thanks to our comparisons. After all, in the vast majority of these cases, either future Hall of Famers or current Hall of Famers were used as the measuring stick. With that said, Greg Rousseau will be facing the most pressure of them all.
The defensive end out of Miami was on another planet in 2019. As just a redshirt freshman, Rousseau put together the kind of season that made you rub your eyes in disbelief. With 54 total tackles, 19.5 for loss and 15.5 sacks – the numbers for Rousseau simply didn’t make sense.
Most of the football world wanted to see if he could do it again but he opted to skip the season due to COVID-19. Yet, if we look at his productivity and actual style of play and juxtapose it with someone else, the best comparison would be Bruce Smith, the all-time sacks leader.
Simply put, Rousseau flashed a ton of Bruce Smith when he played. From the power to relentless attitude and determination to get his hands on the quarterback, Rousseau looked like the second coming of Smith. It might be lofty expectations but with the talent he has, it certainly isn’t entirely farfetched.
