2021 NFL Draft: 5 Teams making fans extremely angry
2. Dallas Cowboys
I don’t know what is going on in the war room of the Dallas Cowboys but someone should go find out.
Micah Parsons is a phenomenal linebacker, so that pick can’t be knocked too much, even if it was unexpected given the team’s needs. He’ll give them a lot of value and play all over the back end of their front seven.
Cornerback Kelvin Joseph was taken in the second round but, when Asante Samuel Jr. was still available, I feel like they chose the wrong guy. Now let’s discuss whatever the third round was. Their three third-round picks were as follows:
- No. 75: DT Osa Odighuzua, UCLA
- No. 84: DE Chauncey Golston, Iowa
- No. 99: CB Nahshon Wright, Oregon State
These are all guys that are consensus sixth- or seventh-round picks that Dallas took in the third round. They took a cornerback when Ifeatu Melifonwu was sliding down the board, just waiting for a team who needed a defensive back to take him. Dallas could have taken a guy like Malcolm Koonce from Buffalo, who went just four picks after their No. 75 selection. None of this made sense and has Dallas moving backward rather than forward.
1. Buffalo Bills
Well, at least we learned Brandon Beane values height. The Bills drafted 6-7 pass rusher Gregory Rousseau at the end of the first round and 6-8 offensive tackle Spencer Brown, who looks like he was created in a lucid dream of Vince McMahon, in the third round of the NFL Draft.
The thing with Buffalo is that they took two defensive linemen with their first two picks when they could have gone with a defensive back with either pick. Tyson Campbell from Georgia was taken three picks after Rousseau while Trevon Moehrig and Richie Grant were both still available as well.
This isn’t to say that Rousseau or Carlos Basham are bad players but drafting two defensive linemen when they had other needs wasn’t the best personnel move. The Bills are still the second-best team in the AFC by a solid margin, but let’s hope they get more diverse with their remaining draft picks.
