1. Ar’Darius Washington, TCU

There were rumors that the Dallas Cowboys did try and move up in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft to get TCU safety Trevon Moehrig. Had they pulled that off, they would be looking much better at safety — but there would be questions about cornerback still since it means they would have missed out on Kelvin Joseph.

Dallas also nearly landed Moehrig by staying put as he was on the board until pick No. 43, which was when Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock finally decided to make a good pick as they jumped ahead of the Cowboys to take the TCU safety at No. 43.

The good news is, Dallas was apparently really looking into Moehrig which means they surely also saw a lot of his teammate Ar’Darius Washington. An undersized safety prospect, Washington is listed at just 5-foot-8 and 179-pounds.

Even so, he’s very physical and has never backed down from a challenge. He’s also incredibly fluid in his movements and simply knows where the football is.

As a redshirt freshman, Washington showed off his ball skills by picking off five passes. He didn’t have any in 2020 but still broke up four passes.

Of course, with this staff in Dallas, they might balk at Washington due to his height. There are times the Jones family is stuck in the 1990s which is why they overvalue running backs and linebackers while looking past safeties and putting way too much stock on measurments. Even worse, they don’t seem to learn from their mistakes in this area ‚— like when they took Taco Charlton over T.J. Watt and sold their fans a line about how Charlton’s frame was perfect for the position.

Next. Cowboys clearly done with ‘right kind of guy’ mentality. dark

But let’s not go back down that road. Instead, let’s hope they do decide to take a flier on one of these three — with Washington seeming to be the one with the most potential.
