Green Bay Packers second-round pick (No. 62): Josh Myers, C, Ohio State

Last season, the Packers had one of the best centers in the NFL in Corey Linsley. Linsley was a monster and had a career year with Green Bay, performing at an elite level. However, he signed with the Chargers in free agency. With Linsley gone, there was a giant gap at the center position, which is likely why the Packers drafted Josh Myers.

I can see why the Packers front office brass drafted Myers. The Ohio State product explodes off the line and can get to the second level in a hurry. He is also an agile player and can move around the field fairly easily. Maybe the one thing that the Packers front office loved the most about Myers is his mentality. He constantly wants to put defenders on their backsides, pretty much every play.

While I’m sure the Packers love his bulldozing mentality, it hurts him oftentimes. Myers will get way out in front of himself sometimes and will find himself off balance far too often than he should be. Myers also worries me in pass protection as he has poor hands and gets beat way too often.

Myers is the classic Green Bay pick. Big guy, very athletic for his size, strong build, and a kill-shot mentality. He also fits the Packers mold because he needs to develop in multiple different ways and is a bit raw despite his athletic traits. I will give credit to Green Bay for filling a need and drafting a valuable position. But players like Wyatt Davis, Creed Humphery and Kendrick Green were all available and could have been better picks than Myers.
