Biggest NFL Draft bust from Miami Dolphins history: Dion Jordan, DE

Stats:

  • 13.5 sacks
  • 82 tackles

Honestly, the Miami Dolphins had it coming.

There were red flags surrounding defensive end Dion Jordan from the very beginning. For starters, Jordan originally played tight end at the University of Oregon in 2008 before ultimately moving to the defensive end position.

Somehow, Jordan was a First-Team All-Pac-12 selection after putting up mediocre numbers. On the year, Jordan registered 42 combined tackles and just 7.5 sacks. He repeated the feat in 2012 even though his numbers were, in some categories, lower than the previous year. Jordan picked up 44 combined tackles and only five sacks.

Despite the not so impressive numbers, as well as shoulder surgery before the 2013 NFL Draft, Jordan was selected with the third overall pick after the Miami Dolphins moved up to grab him. He immediately proved to be a monumental letdown. In his first year in the league, Jordan managed to put together a pitiful season that included just 26 combined tackles and two sacks. Year two was even more horrific, in ten games, Jordan only registered only one sack.

With his awful production on the field coupled with getting busted for using adderall, Jordan’s time in the league ended rather quickly and it’s a major reason why he was the biggest bust in Miami Dolphins history.
