Aaron Rodgers and the Green ay Packers obviously aren’t in a great spot but perhaps the situation is not as doom and gloom as many reports make it seem.

If you’ve read anything about Aaron Rodgers and his desire to not return to the Green Bay Packers, the situation has likely been painted as a lost cause. After all, the quarterback has told teammates, his people, and even pending Green Bay free agents that he doesn’t plan on coming back.

This is undoubtedly a serious situation and Rodgers is (rightfully) unhappy with the organization. Not only did they trade up to select his potential replacement, Jordan Love, in the 2020 NFL Draft but they also have consistently ignored the quarterback’s need for more help in the passing attack — specifically, a No. 2 wide receiver to pair with Davante Adams.

While there does appear to be a very real possibility that Rodgers either doesn’t play or forces a trade from the Packers, it may not be as gloomy of a situation in Green Bay as it’s being portrayed. According to former teammate John Kuhn, it actually appears completely salvageable.

Appearing on CBS Sports Radio with Zach Gelb, Kuhn said he spoke with Rodgers not long ago and that the quarterback not only “loves” being part of the Packers but also loves the game of football. He noted that Rodgers is simply just trying to “control his own destiny”, a luxury few NFL players are afforded.

More importantly, Kuhn offered an optimistic outlook for Aaron Rodgers possibly staying in Green Bay and, to some degree, what that would take.

Is there actually a good chance Aaron Rodgers returns to the Green Bay Packers?

Kuhn said that he believes Rodgers “wants to come back to Green Bay”. However, what the reigning NFL MVP wants is insurance and not to be on a “lame-duck contract”. Essentially, the Packers could get out of the quarterback’s contract after this season and hand the keys to Jordan Love from a financial standpoint. But with the way the future Hall-of-Famer is playing, he feels he deserves more security than that.

The good news for Packers fans is that Kuhn doesn’t think that something getting worked out between Rodgers and the organization is impossible. In fact, the former teammate believes it’s likely as he put a “70-75 percent chance” on the all-world quarterback being the team’s starter in the 2021 season.

Granted, this is one former teammate offering his input amid a bevy of information and reports about Aaron Rodgers and the Packers. However, if Kuhn is to be believed, it does seem that the relationship is still able to be saved. And if you’re Green Bay, you have to try and save it; not doing so could be catastrophically bad for the immediate future.
