In 2021, the Dallas Cowboys spent a third-round pick on Nashon Wright from Oregon State and they hope that he could end up having a decent NFL career. Back in 2015, the Kansas City Chiefs took Steven Nelson in the third round out of Oregon State, and so far, he has had a very good NFL career.

Nelson didn’t see the field much as a rookie but appeared in 12 games mainly on special teams. He then moved into a starting role in 2016 and had 65 tackles and 16 pass defenses. He missed seven games the following season but remained a starter for the majority of the time he was healthy.

Then in 2018, he broke out with 68 tackles, 15 pass defenses, and four picks. That led to him signing a three-year deal worth $25.5 million with the Pittsburgh Steelers. In his first season with Pittsburgh, he was a top-10 cornerback despite not posting elite numbers.

There was a slight decline this past season and he then asked to be released. Still looking for a new home, he would give Dallas a player with 82 career games and 68 starts. He also has seven interceptions and 32 pass defenses over the past three seasons, making him a viable starter for 2021.
