1. Richard Sherman

Well, there’s a reason this addition would make sense and a couple of reasons it wouldn’t.

Richard Sherman is a 33-year-old veteran cornerback who fits the Dallas system like a glove — which is why this idea could work. He broke out in 2012 and 2013 when he had 16 picks in those two years and was a part of the ‘Legion of Boom’.

Sherman won a Super Bowl there and the defensive coordinator when they won it all was Dan Quinn, who is now in Dallas. Sherman isn’t the same player he was then, but he still was better than anyone the Cowboys employed.

Of course, there are concerns over his age and the fact that he missed 11 games in 2020 btu there are other factors that could cloud this potential pairing. One could be pride.

We all know Sherman is a player who speaks his mind and doesn’t appreciate being insulted — just ask Skip Bayless. And he may very well find something said by rookie Nashon Wright insulting.

The third-round pick recently said he was similar to Sherman except he was more “athletic and agile.”

"“I’m an anomaly. … I look at myself as kind of a more athletic and agile Richard Sherman.” — Wright said via Lindsey Wisniewski of NBS Sports"

That alone might not be enough to turn Sherman off, but his feelings toward Jerry Jones could. Earlier this year when NFL players were trying to spark changes as they fought racial injustice, Sherman called out Jones for his silence.

Jones was originally brought into the conversation by Dez Bryant, who later defended him, but Sherman wasn’t so quick to give Jones a pass for not speaking out, especially since Jones has never shied away from talking.

"“It’s not pulling them like it is the rest of the country,” Sherman said via ESPN. “Because if it was, then they’d speak. Jerry Jones, especially, has no problem speaking up any other time about anything else. But when it’s such a serious issue, and he could really make a huge impact on it with a few words, his silence speaks volumes.”"

Having said all that, this is about who could start for Dallas this season and Sherman could definitely do that. Despite his age, he’s still good enough to get the job done. He’s also one of the more intelligent corners in the entire NFL and knows Dan Quinn’s system as well as Quinn himself.

Perhaps the relationship between Quinn and Sherman could outweigh his feelings toward Jones and make him look past the comment from Wright.
