With Madden 22 coming out this summer, here are five NFL players who would make the best cover athlete for this year’s video game.

It’s that time of year again where there’s very little going on in the NFL. Unless you’re also a fellow training camp enthusiast, then some people may find it tough to find true milestones in the NFL offseason.

Just don’t tell that to avid Madden players.

After a storm of controversy surrounding Madden 21, we can already set our sights on Madden 22. We can already expect some changes to the game, namely in Franchise Mode, as I explained earlier in the week. The fun thing these days seems to be making predictions about the video game’s cover athlete.

Long gone are the days of fan-voted brackets, where players like Peyton Hillis won the prestigious honor. Instead, EA Sports chooses one of the best players from the previous season who they believe best encompasses what the upcoming edition is all about. Here are four players who could see themselves on the cover of Madden 22, though there’s one player who deserves an honorable mention…

Madden 22 Cover Athlete Candidate – Honorable Mention: Aaron Rodgers

The reigning MVP would actually be a fantastic choice… if we knew what team he’ll be playing on. The last thing EA Sports would want is to roll out Madden 22 with Rodgers in the wrong uniform.

While there’s always the possibility Rodgers is traded prior to Madden’s release, there are a few younger players who could be better options. Still, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Rodgers eventually grace the cover, especially since Tom Brady did it for Madden 18.
