Week 3: Green Bay Packers at San Francisco 49ers (SNF)

The big unknown for the San Francisco 49ers is when rookie quarterback Trey Lance will make his first start of the season. This likely feels a little early but, if Jimmy Garoppolo is healthy, Kyle Shanahan’s club has proven they’re more than capable of handling Green Bay.

In primetime and facing this problematic Niners offense, the Pack is going to have their hands full on the road. This has the feeling of a loss no matter which player is under center.

Week 4: Pittsburgh Steelers are Green Bay Packers

If Rodgers isn’t suiting up for the Packers, this could be one of the ugliest defensive struggles the league sees this season. I have extremely little faith in the Steelers offense for 2021 with their offensive line looking paltry in comparison to previous years and with Ben Roethlisberger slowing down immensely. Should Rodgers be in the building, the offense will pop enough to get a win. If not, Pittsburgh will eke out a low-scoring victory.

Prediction with Rodgers: Win | Prediction without Rodgers: Loss

Week 5: Green Bay Packers at Cincinnati Bengals

Joe Burrow appears on track to make it back for Week 1 with the Bengals but, even if he falls short of that, he’ll surely be back by this point.

Having said that, the Packers should feel confident in this matchup no matter who their starting quarterback is. The Bengals defense still has some big questions to answer while they didn’t do enough to fix the holes on the offensive line. Even if they struggle to score as consistently without Rodgers, their defense should dominate no matter what.
