Larry Little’s name never quite made any sense. At six foot one and weighing 265 pounds, Larry was anything but little. Regardless of the contradiction in his name, Little was almost impossible to handle on the offensive line. On several occasions, Little would rag doll defensive linemen to the ground. During his near decade and a half career, Little was selected to five Pro Bowls and five All NFL First Teams.
Little’s inclusion on this list doesn’t simply stem from his consistent great play, but also because he never gave up. Coming out of the 1967 NFL Draft, Little went undrafted. He opened up crater-like holes for several Miami Dolphins running backs such as Mercury Morris and Jim Kiick. Little was a major player for a Dolphins team that won back to back titles in the early 1970s.
For as great as Tom Brady is, he’s never been known for his ability to avoid the rush and make plays with his legs. Thanks to Little, Brady will have all of the time in the world to pat the ball, survey the field and deliver the ball whenever he wants. Little may have been skipped by every team in the 67 Draft, but he’s one of our first draft selections on this all-time team.
