NFL: Creating the all-time roster with football’s legends: LB, Junior Seau

Career stats:

  • 1,847 combined tackles
  • 56.5 sacks

Accolades:

  • 12 time Pro Bowler
  • 10 time All-Pro

No matter who’s on the field, there will always be room for Junior Seau. Too often does his name get forgotten in the mix of greatest linebackers ever, but it shouldn’t. His accolades and achievements give him the credibility and credence to say he’s the best to ever play the position.

In total, Seau was selected to ten All-Bowls. He was also a 12 time Pro Bowler. Whenever the 2015 Hall of Famer was in the vicinity of an opposing ball carrier, it was a virtual guarantee that he was going to come up with the tackle. Seau’s 1,077 solo tackles rank seventh all-time while his combined tackles of 1,847 place him in third. Simply put, there was no breaking free from his grip once he had his hands on you.

Although sacking the quarterback wasn’t exactly high on his agenda, he still managed to pile up 56.5 of them which is good for 149th all time. While he was never fortunate enough to hoist the Lombardi trophy, Seau was a dominant force and one of the game’s all-time greats. Too often is his name not mentioned amongst the best but on this list, we’ll gladly place him where he belongs.
