There is only one thing that you need to know about the defensive ability of linebacker Lawrence Taylor, the greatest coach the game has ever seen in Bill Belichick, called him the greatest defensive player of all time.
That’s good enough for me.
Taylor was the heart and soul of the New York Giants throughout the 80s and early 90s. In his first year under the bright lights and pressure associated with playing in New York, Taylor was named to both the Pro Bowl squad and an All-Pro First Team. That would quickly become the norm as he was selected to ten straight Pro Bowls and eight total All-Pro teams.
Taylor was a menace on the field. He could easily drop back into coverage and pick off the quarterback or, he would simply pin his ears back, toss a defender to the side and push the QB’s head into the dirt. No matter where he was placed, Taylor had an immediate impact. His versatility, aggressiveness and overall passion for the game will be welcomed with open arms on this team.
Despite having the deck stacked on the defensive side of the ball, Taylor might provide the biggest impact of anyone on the roster.
