The Dallas Cowboys seem as though they want to add depth behind Dak Prescott and these three players could be options for them in that search.

As it stands right now, the Dallas Cowboys have just Garrett Gilbert, Ben DiNucci, and Cooper Rush behind starting quarterback Dak Prescott. In years past, there would have been no reason to blink an eye at that but that changed in 2020.

This past season, Dallas lost Prescott early in the season when he broke his ankle and Andy Dalton took over. They still had a shot in the NFC East and perhaps if their offensive line wasn’t beat up constantly, they might have pulled it off.

For that reason, they might be compelled to again find a quarterback they trust more as the No. 2 option. With that said, we look at three available free agents who could help them feel more comfortable entering the season.

3. Brett Hundley

As it stands right now, Brett Hundley has very limited experience as a player in the regular season — but he’s still intriguing because of who he worked with. A former draft pick of Mike McCarthy’s back in Green Bay, his nine career starts all came under the current Dallas head coach.

He wasn’t exactly lighting the world on fire with 1,836 yards and a 9-to-12 touchdown-to-interception ratio but the fact is, he was a third-year player who was taken in the fifth-round just two years prior — so maybe he should be given some slack.

Hundley spent 2019 and 2020 with the Arizona Cardinals backing up Kyler Murray and got into just three games (all in 2019). He finished just 5-of-11 on his attempts for 49 yards but was never really playing meaningful minutes.

Still, he knows the head coach and that could help him land another job, should Dallas be interested.
