5. Baltimore Ravens

Prior to the 2021 NFL Draft, there’s a very good chance that I would’ve put the Baltimore Ravens as the best possible landing spot for Julio Jones in a trade. Lamar Jackson and the passing offense have often been criticized over the past two years, largely because there has been little to diversify the skill-set of the group, which has led to predictability.

Throw in a lack of truly elite talent in the group as well, and it’s no wonder many fans were calling for the Ravens to go all-in on the position this offseason.

General manager Eric DeCosta clearly felt similarly in the draft as he not only double-dipped at wide receiver within the first four rounds but also took two prospects in Rashod Bateman and Tylan Wallace who offer the opportunity to really open up the passing offense for Jackson. Both can change the levels of the field at wide receiver as opposed to just having speed threats or contested-catch athletes.

Now, that doesn’t preclude the Ravens necessarily from going after Jones. After all, there is a lot of difference between two rookies and one of the most dangerous pass-catching weapons of the past decade. However, it does seemingly make it a little less likely that Baltimore would make such a move given how much draft capital they just invested.
