2. New England Patriots

After a 2020 campaign in which the New England Patriots offense was downright bad, Bill Belichick was clearly not interested in working slowly to build back up on that side of the ball. Subsequently, one of the major focuses of the offseason in Foxborough has been fortifying the offense, particularly with weapons.

In addition to re-signing Cam Newton and then using a first-round pick on Mac Jones to stabilize the quarterback position, the Patriots signed the two best tight ends on the free-agent market, Hunter Henry and Jonnu Smith, while also inking wide receiver Kendrick Bourne and Nelson Agholor to deals.

Now, let’s not make the mistake of saying that those wide receivers are huge impact players. They are good role players who offer upgrades to New England but they are also not focal points of a passing attack. Julio Jones, of course, has proven he can be that type of player and him coming to New England would be a tremendous help.

It would be a bitter moment for the Falcons to trade their stalwart wide receiver to the team that caused them the 28-3 pain but, in terms of fit, it would make sense. Moreover, the Patriots have been exceptionally aggressive all offseason, so upping offers from other teams to make the deal happen would also be something Atlanta would love to see.
