Malik Willis overhyped at this point in 2022 NFL Draft talk

Where Malik Willis shows room for improvement
While the physical tools are ever-present for Willis, he has not quite learned how to appropriately wiled them yet with only one season of starting experience under his belt. He has the arm talent for sure, but the accuracy proved to be a bit lacking in 2020 despite some flashy plays where he puts the ball on the money. If he can find some consistency with his accuracy, he will take a massive step forward in 2021.
On the season, Willis finished with an on-target percentage of just below 62 according to my weighted on-target percentage formula. For reference, the top four quarterbacks in this year’s class were all above 70 percent with Justin Fields and Trevor Lawrence hitting at a clip over 80 percent. Can he take another leap? Sure, but accuracy is not a trait that is easy to improve upon.
Malik Willis is also asked to man an offense that uses a heavy dose of read-option and RPO plays. As he transitions to the NFL, this may cause the Liberty quarterback to take some time to adjust to making checks at the line pre-snap as he is asked to do little of that in his current role. Post-snap as well, given the RPO nature of the offense, Willis’ reads are usually pretty manufactured for him as well.
While he has the physical tools to make plays outside of the pocket and outside of structure, Willis has to improve on his ability to work within structure. There are times where he will bail from clean pockets, opting for the perimeter over stepping up and delivering a strike down the field.
With a solid base on which to build off of, where does Willis currently stand with a full season to go until the 2022 NFL Draft?
