Denver Broncos: Teddy Bridgewater, Quarterback

Yes, the Denver Broncos just traded for Teddy Bridgewater but he’s not guaranteed to be on the roster when the season begins. Of course, that statement comes with a huge caveat — the Broncos would need to make a move for another quarterback.

We all know who that signal-caller would be as Denver has been linked to one of the best in the game — Aaron Rodgers. The current Green Bay Packers quarterback has apparently expressed his desire to get out and not only are the Broncos on his shortlist but there’s even a rumor going around that Rodgers and Denver executive John Elway were recently golfing together.

If such a trade were to happen, the Broncos would likely have three quarterbacks in Rodgers, Bridgewater, and Drew Lock (assuming they don’t send one back since the Packers have Jordan Love who they selected in the first round last season).

This would lead to a release since there’s no reason to keep all three and Bridgewater would be the most likely candidate. He currently has a cap hit of $4.4 million compared to the $1.9 million from Lock. Denver won’t recoup all that money from cutting TBH20, but they aren’t likely to pay that much for someone to back up Rodgers.
