Houston Texans: David Johnson, Running Back

Just like the Packers, the Houston Texans have had their own issues at quarterback. Not long after the 2020 season ended, the Texans got word that Deshaun Watson wanted out of Houston. He had apparently grown tired of the franchise failing to put the right players around him and that led to a public back and forth.

Then things got really weird when Watson was accused of some atrocious acts of misconduct. So far, it’s all been civil suits and the league has not yet chimed in but there’s a cloud over his head at this point. Even so, there are still rumors that some teams are interested and a move could be made.

With all eyes on Watson, it’s been easy to miss some of the moves Houston did make — which included adding a couple of options at running back. The Texans signed not only Mark Ingram but also Philip Lindsay, both of whom are more than capable of carrying the load.

That doesn’t bode well for David Johnson, who was added by the former head coach, Bill O’Brien. Of course, Johnson’s addition was mocked since he was part of the trade for DeAndre Hopkins which ended up being one of the more one-sided deals in recent memories. Don’t be surprised if the new regime wants to move on from that.
