Indianapolis Colts: Marlon Mack, Running Back
This could be a big season for the Indianapolis Colts as they are turning things over to a new quarterback in Carson Wentz. While Wentz did struggle in 2020, he does have a lot of impressive games on his resume — the best of which came in 2017 when he was playing under offensive coordinator Frank Reich.
Now, the former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback and offensive coordinator duo will once again be together with Reich as the head coach in Indy. There’s reason to believe they could have more success as the Colts were a playoff team last season and will return the majority of their starters — as well as a couple of newcomers such as Kwity Paye, their top pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
They should also have running back Marlon Mack back on the field, but his spot could be in jeopardy. Indy was successful without him last season after he tore his Achilles in Week 1. With him out, rookie Jonathan Taylor had 1,169 yards rushing and came into offseason camp looking even more dangerous.
Mack is still a talented running back but if he lost a step at all with the Achilles injury, the Colts might be willing to go with Taylor and Nyheim Hines as their primary backs.
