Los Angeles Rams: DeSean Jackson, Wide Receiver
If you weren’t paying close attention, you may have missed that DeSean Jackson joined the Los Angeles Rams this offseason. After spending the past two seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles — his second stint with the club — Jackson moved to the west coast for the first time since his collegiate days at Cal.
And if we were talking about D-Jax in his prime, this would feel like a huge win for the Rams. They already have Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods which means he could be forgotten about by opposing defenses — allowing him to get deep and go for the home run ball.
Add to that Matt Stafford as the quarterback and that would be a sick offense. Unfortunately, this isn’t prime DeSean Jackson. Instead, we’re talking about a 34-year-old who has missed 24 games over the past two seasons. He had just nine receptions in 2019 and 14 in 2020.
Sure, he could break away and score a big one for them early in the season just as he did for the Eagles, but then again, they could also get that out of rookie Tutu Atwell ‚— who isn’t in his mid-30s coming off back-to-back injury-filled seasons.
Jackson will go down as one of the better deep threats of his time but unfortunately, that time is past and he’s not guaranteed a spot on this talented roster.
