Miami Dolphins: Albert Wilson, Wide Receiver

When Albert Wilson signed with the Miami Dolphins ahead of the 2018 season, it seemed like a steal for them. He was a very intriguing slot receiver from the Kansas City Chiefs who had a breakout season the prior year with 554 yards and three touchdowns.

His yardage went down for the Dolphins but he scored four touchdowns and had 15 yards per reception on 26 catches in 2018. Unfortunately for him, things were worse in 2019 but the Dolphins as a whole struggled that year.

Things were better for the franchise in 2020 but Wilson wasn’t a part of that after opting out due to opting out because of COVID-19. Wilson is set to return in 2021 and Brian Miller of Phin Fanatic pointed out that he also took advantage of the new league rules on numbers and will wear No. 2 — which is going to look great.

Even with that new number for him — and Allen Hurns ‚— there’s no guarantee that Wilson will make the final roster. Miami attacked the wide receiver position with vigor while Wilson was out. They added Lynn Bowden, Jr. last season in a trade with Las Vegas and then picked up Will Fuller in free agency.

They didn’t stop adding players there either as they took Jaylen Waddle with their first pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. This is without even mentioning DeVante Parker or Preston Williams.

Wilson has an uphill climb on this team that’s suddenly stacked at receiver.
