New England Patriots: N’Keal Harry, Wide Receiver

Frustrated by his first losing season since 2000, Bill Belichick went a little crazy this offseason. He attacked free agency in a way he never has before, landing Matt Judon, Davon Godchaux, and Kyle Van Noy on defense. But on offense, he went on a real spending spree.

Belichick signed two tight ends to huge contracts as they landed Hunter Henry and Jonnu Smith. Then at wide receiver, he picked up Nelson Agholor and Kendrick Bourne.  In the draft, they added Mac Jones who will likely compete with Cam Newton for the starting quarterback role.

With all these changes, it’s easy to wonder about how safe some of the players on the roster are — including 2019 first-round pick N’Keal Harry. It’s no secret that the Arizona State product has yet to find his footing in the NFL and that could be simply due to him being a poor fit in this scheme.

Harry isn’t a wideout who creates a lot of separation and oftentimes wins contested passes. Newton isn’t the quarterback to throw to such a player and neither is Mac Jones. So far in his career, Harry has 45 catches for 414 yards and four touchdowns which isn’t close to what they expected when they drafted him and that could lead to him looking for a fresh start elsewhere.
