New Orleans Saints: Ty Montgomery, Running Back

It’s hard to find anyone that the New Orleans Saints could cut since they already had to make several moves just to get under the salary cap. At one point, they were $100 million over the cap and they went out and cut players such as Emmanuel Sanders while giving Taysom Hill a laughably fake contract to spread his overly enormous hit over the next several years.

With all their moves done, there are really no players left to release that would provide them any cap relief — except for maybe running back Latavius Murray. Moving on from him would present them with significant savings but it would also be a huge mistake since there’s no other back to take his place.

This means Murray is surely safe and the only thing they might do is restructure his contract. They could end up cutting one of the backups behind him — either Dwayne Washington or Ty Montgomery. In this prediction, it’s Montgomery who gets the ax.

Admittedly, this wouldn’t be a huge surprise cut but once again, this team has no real candidates to be a big shocking move. Their cap situation is pretty much set so they’re unlikely to surprise anyone this offseason.
