Philadelphia Eagles: Zach Ertz, Tight End

This offseason, the Philadelphia Eagles already made one big move when they traded away Carson Wentz. The former second overall pick had a solid run which included a 2017 campaign where he looked like a potential MVP.

Of course, the team ended up winning the Super Bowl that year while he was out with a torn ACL which started to cause some doubt among the fans as to whether or not he was the guy. Philly then made it harder on Wentz when they drafted Jalen Hurts last season, which led to the trade.

Now looking ahead to 2021, the Eagles are giving Hurts the keys and they’ve also added a new No. 1 wide receiver for him to work with in DeVonta Smith. But they might end up moving on from another weapon soon.

Zach Ertz was the top target for years and he and Wentz were always on the same page. Not long after Wentz left, there were rumors that Philadelphia could be moving on from the veteran tight end.

Trade rumors persisted but with Ertz due roughly $12.7 million, takers were going to be limited. He could still end up being a cap casualty and the Eagles would save either $5 million or $8 million depending on how they designate the move.
