Baltimore Ravens: Jaylon Ferguson, EDGE

In 2019, the Baltimore Ravens used the 85th overall pick (in Round 3) on Louisiana Tech edge rusher Jaylon Ferguson. At one point, he looked to be a late first or early second-round prospect so the move felt like a steal for them. However, after two seasons, Ferguson has yet to reach his potential.

He’s appeared in 14 games in each year with 10 starts total and has 61 tackles with just 4.5 sacks. As it stands now, he’s been unable to unseat Pernell McPhee and while the departure of Matt Judon could help him get more playing time, it won’t be that easy.

Baltimore just re-signed Tyus Bowser — a second-round pick in 2017 from Houston — to a four-year deal worth up to $27 million. They also used the 31st overall pick (their second after using the first on wide receiver Rashod Bateman) in this past draft on Penn State pass rusher Jayson Oweh.

Right now, Oweh is considered a bit of a raw prospect but that doesn’t mean he won’t be the primary reserve behind Bowser and McPhee. If so, this would put Ferguson in a rough spot — especially considering that more than half his salary would be considered cap savings if he were to be released.
