Tennessee Titans: Brett Kern, Punter

The easy pick for a release from the Tennessee Titans heading into the offseason was Adam Humphries, but they did that as soon as the season ended. There was a lot of savings for Tennessee and Humphries is now with the Washington Football Team.

Looking at the rest of their roster, it’s really hard to find someone who could be a potential surprise cut. They could save a lot by moving on from Ben Jones but he’s still playing at the top of his game, so the veteran center seems safe.

There’s also Roger Saffold, who could save them close to $10 million but he’s still playing well and there’s really no one else who could take his spot. So that means, this one is a pure guess again and we land on punter Brett Kern.

Last year, Kern played in 13 games after dealing with a wrist injury as well as a stint on the COVID-19 list. His punting average dipped by nearly 1.5 yards from the previous two seasons, which makes it less than likely the Titans will pay him the $3.25 million he’s on the books for.

That’s already a lot for a punter and now that he’s 35-years-old, the Titans might be ready to move on and save some of their payroll in the process.
