Cleveland Browns: Chris Hubbard, Tackle/Guard

One team that’s made a lot of big moves already is the Cleveland Browns. They went out and completely revamped their defense with the additions of Jadeveon Clowney, Takk McKinley, John Johnson, Troy Hill, Malik Jackson, and Anthony Walker in free agency.

Their additions continued in the draft as they picked up Greg Newsome II, and Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah in the first couple of rounds. With all their moves, they suddenly look to be a top defense in the NFL this coming season, which is a stark contrast from a year ago.

As for their cap situation, the Browns aren’t in bad shape at all. This is due in large part to them releasing Sheldon Richardson in a cost-cutting move. However, he might not be the only player to get cut in order to save money.

Offensive lineman Chris Hubbard is a player who could be in trouble. Yes, he was a huge weapon for them in 2020 since he was able to fill in at both tackle and guard but a serious knee injury ended his season prematurely. With him now being over the age of 30 — and coming off a bad injury — there’s a chance that Hubbard could be let go when he’s healthy.

If the Browns do make this move, it would save them more than $3.5 million. It would, however, weaken their line which could be a reason to hold onto him as well.
