Dallas Cowboys: Anthony Brown, Cornerback

In 2020, the Dallas Cowboys easily had the worst secondary in the NFL. That’s why they went out with the goal of completely revamping their defensive backs this offseason.

They not only allowed safety Xavier Woods and cornerback Chidobe Awuzie to leave in free agency, but they then focused heavily on the secondary in the draft. Dallas took Kelvin Joseph from Kentucky in the second round and Nahshon Wright in the third.

If that wasn’t enough, they also picked up Israel Ikuamu in the sixth round and look to be converting the South Carolina cornerback to safety. Throw in the signing of Damontae Kazee and Keanu Neal (who will be a hybrid safety and linebacker) and suddenly the secondary looks almost capable. Almost.

Having said all that, some of the players who were already on the roster could find themselves in trouble as cuts come through. One such player could be cornerback Anthony Brown who was extended in the 2020 offseason.

While Dallas was ready to commit to him then, things could be different now after his second season in a row where he missed extensive time. In 2019, Brown missed seven games before missing another six this past campaign.

Dallas could elect to go with some younger options who they believe will be more healthy than Brown has.
