1. Washington Football Team at Dallas Cowboys, Week 16 (SNF)

The NFC East was the worst-performing division in the NFL in the 2020 season. Washington won with a 7-9 record, only the third team in league history to win a division with a losing record. None of the four teams took hold of the division through the year but all should be improved in 2021.

Washington will face all three of their division rivals in a row to close the upcoming season, and their game with the Cowboys on Dec. 26 will be crucial. The Football Team’s biggest rival, the Dallas Cowboys, recently closed the book on their biggest issue as they signed Dak Prescott to a long-awaited extension. Of course, he’s coming off an injury-shortened season in which he played like an MVP candidate prior to going down. However, wins were hard to come by with or without him on the field, but especially with the latter.

At the same time, there is evidence to suggest that Washington is not far from being a perennial playoff contender. Quarterback has been an issue and would certainly have separated them from the Cowboys and Prescott in years past. With the addition of Fitzpatrick, the Football Team hopes they can narrow that gap.

There are huge implications for the playoff race with this game, particularly in Week 16. If both teams are still fighting for the top spot in the division as expected, fans should enjoy a feast of football entertainment the day after Christmas.
