Julio Jones reportedly has his possible trade destinations down to two teams but, looking at the other teams, there are some wild possibilities.

The narrative around the NFL has definitively shifted from “would the Atlanta Falcons actually trade Julio Jones?” to “where will the Falcons trade Julio Jones?” The All-Pro wide receiver has reportedly expressed his desire for a trade, Atlanta needs to clear up cap room in any possible way, and there are suitors for the wideout. By all accounts, a deal is going to happen.

While initial reports mentioned six possible teams for Jones, Chris Simms on PFT Live said that the decision for the wide receiver has come down to the New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans. And considering those are two common teams linked to the Falcons as a possible trade partner, it does feel as if there’s something substantive there.

However, the NFL is a league in which trades, especially of late, have seemingly come out of nowhere. Whether it’s the entirety of the deal or the team that ends up swooping in with the best offer, we have often been shocked when trades go down. So who’s to say that won’t happen with Julio Jones?

Taking that in mind, we’re looking at five possible suitors for a Julio Jones trade with the Falcons that, though they aren’t in the mix, could still feasibly add the All-Pro wide receiver via a trade. These are wild possibilities — but that also means they might be the most fun.

5. Green Bay Packers

Given the current state of affairs with the Green Bay Packers, specifically with reigning NFL MVP, OTA-no show and current Hawaii socialite Aaron Rodgers, they probably have bigger fish to fry than trying to trade for Julio Jones. But at the same time, wouldn’t that also be a way to curry favor with Rodgers?

Make no mistake, the bulk of the quarterback’s issue with the Packers appears to be with the lack of communication between the front office and himself, which stands to reason. At the same time, it’s also part of the equation that Rodgers hasn’t been given a ton of substantial offensive weaponry, especially of late, outside of Davante Adams.

Julio Jones would obviously be a big way to go about addressing that. But what’s interesting is how Green Bay could potentially afford such a trade. While they could restructure some contracts to improve upon the only $2.5 million they have in cap space, extending Rodgers — something the quarterback wants for long-term security — would free up $17.4 million this year, enough to eat the $15.3 million to acquire Jones.

So while it might seem far-fetched, Green Bay thinking outside the box with Jones might actually lead to the best possible position for the franchise. Plus, Jones and Adams together would be downright incredible.
