5 Wildest Julio Jones trade destinations that could actually happen
4. Cleveland Browns
Eyeing the current Cleveland Browns roster, there are many who would say that they have one of the more complete rosters in the NFL, especially after this offseason. What’s left for them to do is to try and fill out the margins while also planning for the future. And though Julio Jones is 32 years old, he might actually make sense as part of that.
As of right now, Baker Mayfield has a strong wide receiver corps to operate with as Jarvis Landry will be rejoined by Odell Beckham Jr., returning after a season-ending injury last year, Rashard Higgins and Donovan Peoples-Jones while Anthony Schwartz also enters the fray. Yet, Landry and Beckham, the stars on substantial contracts right now, have outs in their deals after this season.
Because of that, Cleveland could possibly be looking to shuffle up their receiver group after this year. Moreover, they could also be looking for some depth and flexibility with the group they have now. That’s something that Jones, if they deem it a good investment, could address for them.
The Browns currently have just shy of $21 million in cap space and can also create a bit more with cuts and restructures. That’s enough to absorb Jones’ contract and potentially add a piece to the puzzle that they hope will lead to Super Bowl contention.
