3. Jacksonville Jaguars: Kyle Hamilton, S, Notre Dame

The first non-quarterback comes off the board here as the Jacksonville Jaguars select Notre Dame safety Kyle Hamilton. The Jags got their guy this year in the form of Trevor Lawrence, and added to their offense with Travis Etienne in the first round as well. While the Jags could address their pass rush situation as well here, they still have K’Lavon Chaisson and Josh Allen, two young and promising edge defenders they can hope to develop.

After landing C.J. Henderson in the first round in 2020, then Tyson Campbell in the second round this year, Jacksonville must now take a good, hard look at the third level of their defense. They do just that here by taking potentially the best overall player in next year’s draft class in the form of Hamilton.

4. Philadelphia Eagles: Carson Strong, QB, Nevada

If the Philadelphia Eagles find themselves sitting with a top-five pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, then you better believe they are going to take a new quarterback. This year they passed up the opportunity to take Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields when they traded up for wide receiver DeVonta Smith. While this is a move they could regret, they get their guy this year as the arm and ceiling of Jalen Hurts are not worth betting on.

Picking fourth would be evidence that things with Hurts or Joe Flacco did not work out for the Eagles, and here they land the big-armed Nevada quarterback Carson Strong to take over the reigns. Sort of unheralded thus far into the summer, look for Strong to follow in the footsteps of Josh Allen and Jordan Love as the next first round quarterback to come out of the Mountain West.
